Hi !

Some of you may know me, but most of you probably won't. I've been an on-and-off forums participant here since 1999, and have been a passive participant, rarely active, for the last two or three years.

Anyway, thought I'd just re-introduce myself since I've decided to become a bit more active around these parts. I won't be around more than a couple hours a week at the most, but I'm looking forward to hanging out with you all.

Be blessed! :-)

I thought that I was just not frequenting the same forums as you were. I too have cut down on the amount of time and postings due to other commitments in my life.

It's good that you're back. I always appreciated your input on things, especially the local scene. Remember the gas price threads?

Hey Duffer,

Yeah - I remember the gas price threads, as well as the pronunciation threads ("to-MAY-to, to-MAH-to"). In fact, when I first joined these forums, it was back in 1999, and I joined in quite a few Theology discussions regarding the pending Y2K "judgment" that never happened. For the record, I didn't believe it would happen, but there were a few interesting posters that firmly believed we should all jump into a bunker and stock up on canned food & bottled water. And then there were the extremists.

After that, the singles forum back in May 2000, where I met my wife Sophie, and lots of other great folks. In 2001, I volunteered as a host for the Teens area for a while, and stepped down in 2002 due to real-life time constraints, due to getting married in 2002. Relative inactiviy for a couple years.

Then in 2004, I had more free time and starting posting regularly again. In late 2004, I volunteered as a host again and experienced the "great transition" from the old forums to the current forums, Crosswalk forums merging with Christianity.com forums, with lots of other mergers to happen afterwards. And "hosts" became "moderators." The new forums came with "points" that you could give or take away from certain posts, and everyone was able to upload JPG's and I remember why both features were removed. Trust me - we're better off without them. I ended up getting a job that demanded more time; that and other commitments led me to once again step down at the end of 2005. Been off and on infrequently ever since, although I still get the occasional PM addressing me as a moderator.

My theory is that being a CW mod is like being a Marine. As they say, once a Marine, always a Marine. Though I've never been a Marine, I can understand that certain experiences mark one for life. My experience here has certainly marked me for the better. Not sure what my favorite memories are of these forums, there are so many good ones, but I always come back.

Thanks, everyone, for the welcome back.
