Little or no personal hygiene.

Nope, not doing this one. I thought it was wrong when the guys did it, and it would be hypocritical and just as wrong for me to do it here. I will say this: I have preferences, but they are just that, preferences. The only real deal-breakers for me would be behavioral/character issues.

Ooo, I didn't think of a comb-over - perhaps because men with comb-overs aren't in my ideal dating age range? (I don't see any men in their 30's and 40's with those hideous things.) Of course, I'm married, so NO men are in my ideal dating age range, LOL!

I"ve read the guys version (yes, I do sometimes read the Men Only threads) and I appreciate the honesty. Basically I agree with the other gals. If a guy isn't taking care of himself physically then I can assume he wouldn't be taking care of other either. Not that a man has to be all muscles and GQ, but if he is a slob and unhealthy...well you get the drift.

Poor hygiene Weight extremes (extremely thin or obese) Shorter than me (which is very rare, considering my height) Overly-primped Generally disheveled or unkempt appearance Also, I personally don't care for lots jewelry, peircings, or tatoos Not a big fan of the comb-over or the mullet

Yes, things like hygiene, bad teeth, B.O., etc are behavioral issues to me. So is obesity to some extent. I'm married, too, so I won't be dating anyone, but when I was, I looked more at the heart than the outside package. I dated men who had bellies, were bald/balding, some were short. Didn't matter to me. When I did find my forever sweetie, he was tall, redheaded (which I love), and slender. But he didn't have to be. All he had to be was a man after God's heart. All the rest is just gravy.

I was happy to talk and maybe become friends (and even date) guys who at the minimum were clean and neat.

Although, there are some "vibes" that put me off. Not any thing really to do with physical characteristics. I should clarify. Even though they aren't physical charictaristics, certain things do make a man physically unattractive in my eyes even though in another circumstance I might find him handsome. For instance, male models. My brother is all into men's style and fashion. He looks fine. But some of the clothing ads he peruses--to me those men are not in the least bit handsome or hot. Not even good-looking. Kind of scary. It's the presentation and attitude that is off-putting, and makes their physical attributes totally meaningless. Did Leo DiCaprio used to be handsome? I've seen several picture of him lately and what comes across now is guy-who-stays-up-to-all-hours-partying-boozing-and-womanizing. Sleazy, sloppy, hungover. I don't know if that's really what he does or if he just likes to look that way, but either way, it's totally offputting and unattractive. This is all moot for me because I'm married. Just think the way we humans percieve each other and what affects our perceptions is an interesting subject.

Disclaimer: Married woman speaking in hypothetical terms. I agree with most other posters that morbid obesity or BO/bad breath are turnoffs. However, if a man seems otherwise well-kept but has a mild odd odor or is overweight, and I like him, I'd reserve judgement, as some necessary medications can cause that.

Marriage will do odd things to a woman, though. There are certain things that m'love looks really good in, dare i say hot, for instance nice new jeans. But like all men he also has his favorite "ugly" shirt. He wears one for a pajama top. On a stranger I would think he was sloppy but on m'love is has a certain charm of a man comfortable at home.

And then God gave me a wonderful husband... who has a hairy back. Now that I think about it, it doesn't bother me in the least. He's a wonderful man and treats me like a queen. What hairy back? Guys, your heart of kindness and giving is going to cover for a lot! Be encouraged!

The only thing that is really repellant physically to me is a dirty stinky guy, unless he has just been mowing the lawn or working outside or something and is heading to the shower. But we were watching the Olympics, and cheering on that little Ohno fella, and all I could think was "Shave that stupid patch off your chin! It ruins your whole face!" Ummm..sorry for the outburst. I was pretty easy to please when I was single, as far as looks and physical characteristics. It was personality and character issues that got to me in a bad way.

I'm single and ^^^ pretty much sums up how I feel about it. Don't get me wrong. . . I want there to be physical attraction, but that could mean a variety of different things. There's no one type or physical trait that guarantees that attraction for me. But if a guy lacks integrity or the desire/ability to support a family or is arrogant, it's all over. I'd be moving on. . .

I was looking for the article for a link-- Athletes are very superstitious, and Apollo wears his "soul patch" as a part of his training and racing process. I saw him in NYC, after his "Dancing With the Stars" win, without the patch--very easy on the eyes.
