Among other things, the Watergate scandal of the 1970s gave us a great naming convention for future scandals. Take "Climategate" at Penn State. That's what people are calling the controversy surrounding leaked E-mails among climate change researchers that climate change opponents say expose the researchers' falsification of data. One Penn State professor is involved in the scandal.

The Penn State administration plans to investigate Climategate and determine if it needs to take further action, the Daily Collegian reports. A little more than a week ago, E-mails exchanged among an English university's climate change researchers were illegally obtained from a server and posted online, the report says.

Climate change opponents say the E-mails indicate that climate change researchers—including Penn State Prof. Michael Mann—exaggerated or fabricated global warming data. And, according to the report, some E-mails indicate that the director of the research unit in question may have contacted researchers and asked them to "delete certain E-mails."

A local radio announcer was the m.c. & local radio host Curtis Sliwa was a speaker, apparently to drive home a point about how juries can let villans go.

Speaking were actual firefighters, who lost comrades in the 9/11 Islamic act of war. Who actually may have hugged a brother in the WTC stairwell knowing that they may never see each other again.

If this was not a premeditated act of war...how is it that the pilots actually took pilots lessons and made other preparations before launching war??????????

BTW Obama's name was only mentioned at most about 3xs, the main call for him to fire Holder; & hold to his oath of office.

The crowd's anger was primarily aimed against the incompetent AG Holder.

Juries could very well let these killers off too.

Another speaker was a woman badly burned at the WTC, & who spent a month in a coma..no Hollywood actor.



That's the way today's event went, & I was extremely proud to stand along side of veterans in their Legion caps or w/ VFW type banners, & brave firefighters off-duty in their jackets from ladder companies from the S. Bronx to Harlem, to other cities.

Abed is believed to be the man behind the barbaric March 2004 ambush of Blackwater security guards in which four were murdered, their bodies mutilated and then hung from a bridge in Fallujah.

On August 31, I headed to the health care town hall meeting of my congressional representative, Jan Schakowsky (D-IL). I suspected that she planned to stack the meeting with paid organizers, after she vowed on Real Time with Bill Maher to bring “millions” of people into the streets to support the so-called “public option.” So I brought a video camera.

A friend and I took turns filming protesters on both sides of the issue. We caught an organizer from the group Health Care for America Now (HCAN) instructing followers to block dissenting views: “So if they stand up and start asking questions, and you’re in that area, simply stand up, and start chanting… ‘Health care now! Health care now!’”

My experience at Rep. Schakowsky’s town hall meeting that night convinced me to challenge her in the 2010 election. I had already stood up to Rep. Barney Frank at Harvard University, when I asked him about his role in the financial crisis. I could not simply watch thugs drown out the people of my own community back home, and do nothing.

The HCAN video became a YouTube sensation, the “smoking gun” in the controversy over which side of the debate was “Astroturfing”—i.e. creating a false image of grass roots support. I have since discovered that the video contains clues about how the entire nationwide health care campaign was planned and executed by congressional Democrats and the White House.

For a number of years, Angel Tree, a ministry of Prison Fellowship, has helped provide gifts for prisoners' children, and this year, Prison Fellowship president Mark Earley says some kids are still in need of sponsors.

A Muslim book store in Houston, Texas closed on 9/11 in order to celebrate one of the hijackers that drove an airplane into the World Trade Center towers. Harwin Drive is a street in southwest Houston lined with shops that sell right off the boat Chinese junk and knock-offs. Muslims run the majority of shops. A Houston resident said, “Today I went to the Harwin Central Mall to pick up some crystals. The very first store that you come to when you walk from the lobby of the building into the shopping area had this sign posted on their door. It read, “We are closed today September 11, 2009 in order to commemorate Imam Ali.” I couldn’t stay in the building it made me so sick.
Imam Ali piloted one of the planes into the World Trade Towers on 9/11/01. Thus, we feature Muslim-Americans that celebrate his actions annually while we mourn our 3,000 dead at the same time.

This could be an indicator of lupus, which I already have a compromised immune system, and that would be terrible. However I also suffer sometimes w/ gout, and gout can be a reason for this lab result/false reading. The government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States. An individual mandate would have two features that, in combination, would make it unique. First, it would impose a duty on individuals as members of society. Second, it would require people to purchase a specific service that would be heavily regulated by the federal government.[1]

This statement from a 1994 Congressional Budget Office Memorandum remains true today. Yet, all of the leading House and Senate health-care reform bills being debated in Congress require Americans to either secure or purchase health insurance with a particular threshold of coverage, estimated by CBO to cost up to $15,000 per year for a typical family.[2] This personal mandate to enter into a contract with a private health insurance company is enforced through civil and criminal tax penalties in section 501 of the House bill[3] and with a freestanding mandate and equally questionable civil tax penalties in sections 501 and 513 of the pending Senate bill.[4]

The purpose of this compulsory contract, coupled with the arbitrary price ratios and controls, is to require many people to buy artificially high-priced policies to subsidize coverage for others as well as an industry saddled with other government costs and regulations. Congress lawfully could enact a general tax to pay for these subsidies or it could create a tax credit for those who buy health insurance, but that would require Congress to "pay for" or budget for the subsidies in a conventional manner. The sponsors of the current bills are attempting, through the personal mandate, to keep the transfers entirely off budget or – through the gimmick of unconstitutional taxes or penalties they dub "shared responsibility payments” – make these transfers appear to be revenue-enhancing.

A Tennessee woman is learning to walk again after she came down with a deadly nerve disease only eight days after receiving the swine-flu vaccine.

Clarksville resident Suzanne Hogan is recovering at Vanderbilt University Medical Center's Stallworth Rehabilitation Center from Guillain-Barre Syndrome, or GBS, an illness she believes is associated with the H1N1 vaccination.

GBS attacks the lining of the nerves, causing paralysis and inability to breathe, and can be fatal. Symptoms may include "pins and needles" sensations in fingers and toes; weakness
or tingling in legs and upper body; inability to walk; difficulty with eye movement, facial movement, speaking, chewing or swallowing; severe lower back pain; difficulty with bladder control or intestinal functions; very slow heart rate or low blood pressure; difficulty breathing; choking on saliva and even complete paralysis of legs, arms and breathing muscles over the course of a few hours.

Washington (AP) - A loophole in the Senate health care bill would let insurers place annual dollar limits on medical care for people struggling with costly illnesses such as cancer, prompting a rebuke from patient advocates.

The legislation that originally passed the Senate health committee last summer would have banned such limits, but a tweak to that provision weakened it in the bill now moving toward a Senate vote.

As currently written, the Senate Democratic health care bill would permit insurance companies to place annual limits on the dollar value of medical care, as long as those limits are not "unreasonable." The bill does not define what level of limits would be allowable, delegating that task to administration officials.

The House passed a $1.1 trillion spending bill Thursday that gives the District of Columbia more control over such local issues as funding abortions and legalizing medical marijuana.

The legislation, which passed 221-202, also would overturn a ban on local funding for D.C. needle-exchange programs and phase out the city's federally-funded school-vouchers program. The legislation also would lift a nationwide ban on the use of federal funds for needle exchange.

The Senate is expected to pass the legislation, with a vote as early as Saturday.

The District's non-voting House member Eleanor Holmes Norton, a Democrat, said the vote was a "historic step to ensure greater democracy in the nation's capital."

The justices rejected the appeal without comment Monday. Four British men say they were beaten, shackled in painful stress positions and threatened by dogs during their time at the U.S. naval base in Cuba from 2002 to 2004.

They also say they were harassed while practicing their religion, including forced shaving of their beards, banning or interrupting their prayers, denying them copies of the Quran and prayer mats and throwing a copy of the Quran in a toilet.

The number of Americans who say they have interacted with a ghost has doubled in the last 13 years, the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life revealed in its "Many Americans Mix Multiple Faiths" report.

Now, approximately 18 percent of respondents say they have seen or been in the presence of a ghost, compared with only 9 percent in 1990 and 1996. Likewise, 29 percent of respondents felt that they had been in touch with someone who has already died, compared with 17 percent in 1990 and 18 percent in 1996.

Recently President Obama called for granting fast-track green cards to foreign students studying STEM fields at U.S. universities. That view has become au courant in DC these days--the H-1B program in general has problems but those who come here as foreign students are the "good" H-1Bs. As I've often written, I strongly disagree with this point of view.

Though I do support facilitating the immigration of "the best and the brightest," only a tiny fraction of the foreign STEM students are in that league. Most are hired simply because they're cheaper. Even if they were to be given quick green cards, they still would be cheaper, because they're younger. A fast-track green card program would basically be just as harmful as an H-1B expansion.

Obama's remarks were particularly disappointing because they were supported by one of his advisers, Jared Bernstein. Bernstein was formerly at EPI, a pro-labor think tank that has been critical of the H-1B program.

Pioneering TV evangelist Oral Roberts has passed away due to complications from pneumonia, just a day after he was hospitalized for a fall at his home. He was 91.

As Meredith noted yesterday, the health care plan without the public option will cause families making $88,201 (and who do not have employer-based coverage) to see an average cost of $15,020 added to their yearly bills because of the insurance mandate. That flies in the face of Obama's pledge not to raise taxes on families making $250,000 or less. As Cato's Michael Tanner notes:

These increases are over and above any increases that would occur if we did nothing.

But there are more tax woes included in the bill beyond this single insurance mandate, as Tanner explains. There's the new tax that an estimated 19% of workers would have to pay — and that percentage would grow as time went on, because the tax is slated to expand at a rate slightly slower than medical inflation.

Troops are being sent to war zones without proper training and suitable gear, according to two senior Democratic lawmakers who say they've been told by soldiers about problems ranging from their backpacks to their rifles.

In a Dec. 10 letter to the Pentagon's top leaders, Rep. Ike Skelton, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, and Rep. Solomon Ortiz, who heads the subcommittee on military readiness, said they are "greatly troubled" by what they learned as the Obama White House begins escalating the U.S. presence in Afghanistan.

Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, has not seen the letter yet, according to Air Force Capt. Elizabeth Aptekar, a spokeswoman. "However, we appreciate the concern and the support the representatives have in our men and women in uniform and we will look into this matter," she said.

(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) told CNSNews.com that Congress has the authority to force individual Americans to buy health insurance because the U.S. Constitution “charges Congress with the health and well-being of the people.”

The words “health” and “well-being” do not appear anywhere in the Constitution.

The Congressional Budget Office has determined that in the entire history of the United States the federal government has never mandated that Americans buy any good or service. Both the House and Senate health care bills, however, include provisions that require all legal residents of the U.S. to purchase health insurance, a provision whose constitutionality has been qiuestioned by, among others, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R.-Utah), the former chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"Climate change," the scam formerly known as "global warming," has been exposed as the crypto-Marxist hoax many of us suspected for years that it was. In Copenhagen, at the ridiculous charade of a "summit" on the dangers of carbon emissions producing record carbon emissions, the lofty rhetoric about saving the planet and the long-suffering polar bears has been ripped down like a sheet covering an unfinished masterpiece. Underneath, the masterpiece turns out to be an ugly reality as old as human history, a good old fashioned shakedown, in which the greediest of the greedy, those assert the right confiscate the fruits of other people's labor, alternately threaten, whine, wheedle, and guilt their marks into coming across with the cash in the interest of "economic justice," or in this case, "climate justice."

With all that has happened -- the East Anglia e-mails, which revealed that supposedly respectable scientists were falsifying data, repressing any inconvenient findings, and trying to intimidate respected journals into marginalizing anyone who disputed their theory, the revelation that Al Gore made up numbers out of whole cloth and used them to support his claims of harm to those afore-mentioned polar bears, and the degeneration of the Copenhagen summit into an unintentional laugh riot -- you might think that proponents of the theory of anthropegenic climate change would be issuing apologies, returning the millions that they have earned from this racket, and moving on to more productive pursuits. There's as much chance of that happening as the purveyors of "eat all you want" weight loss miracles, herbal baldness cures and "male enhancement" pills admitting that their products are shams, and returning the beau coups of loot that they have extracted from the gullible.

Of course, the insistence of those involved in the "Save the Planet" scam on its continuing existence in which they are so invested, both personally and financially, is not a surprise. In this case, though, for many of the grifters, the motive goes beyond the obvious one of short-term personal enrichment.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 25% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-six percent (46%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21 That’s the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President (see trends).

Fifty-three percent (53%) of men Strongly Disapprove along with 39% of women. Most African-American voters (58%) Strongly Approve while most white voters (53%) Strongly Disapprove.

Seventy-four percent (74%) of Republicans Strongly Disapprove as do 52% of unaffiliated voters. Forty-seven percent (47%) of Democrats Strongly Approve.

(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said the White House and the Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives have been pressuring him not to speak out on the "compromise" abortion language in the Senate version of the health care bill.

“They think I shouldn’t be expressing my views on this bill until they get a chance to try to sell me the language,” Stupak told CNSNews.com in an interview on Tuesday. “Well, I don’t need anyone to sell me the language. I can read it. I’ve seen it. I’ve worked with it. I know what it says. I don’t need to have a conference with the White House. I have the legislation in front of me here.”

The Michigan Democrat succeeded last month in getting 64 House Democrats to join him in attaching his pro-life amendment to the House version of the health-care bill. The “Stupak amendment,” as the provision is known, would prohibit the federal government from allocating taxpayer money to pay for any part of any health insurance plan that covers abortion except in cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the mother is in danger.

In order to compete for the money, states must allow teachers to be assessed based on student performance. California currently has a law preventing such assessment, and the teachers’ unions adamantly oppose any effort to change this.

Two bills seek to address the problem, and neither is expected to pass. Education reformers support a Senate bill backed by Sen. Gloria Romero, D-Los Angeles, Governor Schwarzenegger, and the state superintendent of public instruction. Legislation that includes Senate rule changes require a 2/3 majority of Senators for passage. Yet Democrat leadership maintains that only 60 votes will be needed to pass the bill, not 66. DeMint challenged presiding officer Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) on the Senate floor over several provisions, saying they "not only amend certain rules, they waive certain rules, and create entirely new rules out of whole cloth."

One such rule DeMint read, regarding subsection C in Section 3403, states: "It shall not be in order in the Senate, or the House of Representatives to consider any bill resolution, amendment, or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection."

ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) - An attempted terrorist attack on a Christmas Day flight began with a pop and a puff of smoke - sending passengers scrambling to subdue a Nigerian man who claimed to be acting on orders from al-Qaida to blow up the airliner, officials and travelers said.

The commotion began as Northwest Airlines Flight 253, carrying 278 passengers and 11 crew members from Amsterdam, prepared to land in Detroit just before noon Friday. Travelers said they smelled smoke, saw a glow, and heard what sounded like firecrackers. At least one person climbed over others and jumped on the man, who officials say was trying to ignite an explosive device.

"It sounded like a firecracker in a pillowcase," said Peter Smith, a passenger from the Netherlands. "First there was a pop, and then (there) was smoke."

However, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab came to the attention of intelligence officials months before that, according to a U.S. government official involved in the investigation. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because it is ongoing.

Still, none of the information the government had on Abdulmutallab rose to the level of putting him on the official terror watch list or no-fly list. A "miracle on Christmas Day" prevented nearly 300 people from being killed by a terrorist attack aboard a transcontintental flight, but failure to connect the dots could be the United States' Achilles heel, U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman told Fox News Sunday.

Lieberman, the top senator on the Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, said a lack of communication was the key factor behind the terrorists' success on Sept. 11, 2001, and could be the reason for the failure to thwart a future attack.

The independent Connecticut senator said accused bomber Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab, a 23-year-old Nigerian man charged with trying to set off a powerful explosive aboard a Northwest Airlines flight as it descended toward Detroit Friday, fit all the signs of a terrorist.

He "self-radicalized," broke ties with families and allegedly reached out to organized terrorist units in Yemen, Lieberman told Fox. His own father called the U.S. embassy in Lagos, Nigeria, to alert U.S. officials about his son's changing behavior.

Asked by CNN's Candy Crowley on "State of the Union" how that could be possible when the young Nigerian who sought to set off the bomb was able to smuggle explosive liquid onto the flight, Napolitano responded: "We're asking the same questions."

Napolitano added that there was "no suggestion that [the bomber] was improperly screened."

The visible US response to the latest attempted terrorist attack on the country, has so far sadly conformed to past mistakes and strategic blunders. The attempted attack by the Nigerian Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab as the NorthWest Airlines flight 253 was coming into land at Detroit airport has led to an increase in security by the TSA, which has so far taken the following form: restrictions surrounding in-flight entertainment on International flights coming into the USA, extra screening on flights coming into the USA, extra screening at domestic airports, restrictions on moving around the cabin one-hour before landing and discussion of restrictions on taking electronics on the airplane and of course the default extra screening of baby food, which seems to happen after every terrorist event. This is eloquently described as, 'TSA Security Burlesque' by an Atlantic Commentator.

It could reasonably be claimed that most people regard the security regime surrounding air-travel as at best a nuisance and at worst a catastrophic drain on economic resources. In large part the west's terrorist opponents have won this battle. Low-cost terrorist attempts at aviation infrastructure create enormous security reactions - truly exhausting and bleeding the west's financial and psychological capital to resist. Nobody who has suffered through a US domestic flight since 9/11 would argue the airline industry is in good-shape. As a key-component in global economic growth destroying the aviation industry is a good place for a nihilistic terrorist movement to start.

What has caused this? At this point, it is the reaction of United States Department of Homeland Security to any terrorist event involving aviation [which then spreads throughout the global aviation system], which heightens the operational success of militant Islamist terrorists against aviation targets. The noted, counter-insurgency expert David Kilcullen expertly puts this into focus [in his book Accidental Guerrilla] by highlighting the detrimental effects of US counter-terrorism policy. In short al-Qaeda does not represent an existential threat to the US, it has no path to victory looking at any reasonable scenario including the use of WMD-- but the US can defeat itself by unnecessary over-reaction and a fundamental misunderstanding of basic risk management and terrorist theory. Once again this is being demonstrated by the events in Detroit and the DHS reaction, which creates more disruption than the attack itself, destroys DHS and US credibility by mandating absurd responses, which focus on securing events after they have happened (for example, turning off in-flight entertainment because passengers can see a map - passengers can still look out the window or use their watches).

(CNSNews.com) – Rep. Don Manzullo (R-Ill.) said last week he was “shocked” to hear a senior Department of Defense official agree with him that the administration’s plan to move detainees of Guantanamo Bay to Thomson, Ill., would pose an increased security risk.

UPDATE 3: A false report of a man wielding a machine gun near the Capitol led to a nearly one-hour lock down of the sparsely populated complex on Tuesday afternoon, a highly-placed law enforcement source tells POLITICO.

The incident, which took place at around 3:25 p.m. began when a bus driver got in argument with a rider and kicked him off bus.

A cell phone caller from inside the bus said driver had a gun, the police source said. Metro Transit police then boarded bus with assault rifles to clear it at the corner of Third St. SW and Independence Ave.
