I've always thought it was cruel to make them sing the song they were eliminated for. Just show the clip of their journey and let them be. Then again, this is the show that built up the ratings for auditions by exploiting clueless people who have no idea that they sound like an alley cat. Can't ask for kindness. I'm telling you...they're manipulating the votes by putting through people who aren't ready...like Haley...so they can get the results they want. They have done this for a long time, and will continue to do so as long as the show continues. So ready for The X-Factor...where anyone can win, because it's a competition between the judges as well.

Gotta love the DVR. I managed to blow through an entire 60 minute show in 10 minutes flat. FF through all the boring commentary of the judges, wait for Ryan to have 2 people left standing, watch the elimination, ff through the song and repeat. Did let Danny Gokey sing as I walked around my house getting dressed. Last night on Twitter, ProdigalJon of Stuff Christians Like said, "You look beautiful. Kiss of death on American Idol." I so thought they were done with that since Paula's not there to talk about their hair, outfit, etc when she can't find anything else good to say.

I didn't see last week cause my sleep was so messed up. I have to wait till Saturday to read all the comments when I do get a chance to watch cause here in the Middle East they air AI on Thursday and Friday. So, I got to see this week. Not really impressed. For the men's performances, I enjoyed just the first Michael Lynche and the last Lee Dewyze. Not so sure about John Park leaving, but totally agree with Jermaine Sellers being voted off. I understand that Andrew has a lot to live up to since his "Straight up" performance, but with the judges' comments going all places... I wouldn't be surprised if they'd tell him not to change too much when he does go that way again. For the women's performances, I enjoyed Crystal's, Lilly's and Siobhan's performances. As for voting off with the women, I would have preferred to see two others go this week and give Haeley and Michelle another week. I didn't not like Didi and Katelyn at all. As for the judges.... yawn and agree about the comments made about the judges' comments... "Don't change too much... change more... go younger... go..." Uhm, make up your mind, judges. There are some who sing what they like cause they enjoy those songs. They don't have the experience as to what suits them or what their voices can handle. I'm also not liking Kara. After going all gaga about Casey and now trying to act not so head over heels by saying she got the cougar-memo a little too much... I miss Paula.

ORIGINAL: Memaw. I thought they were much improved from last week, still some pitch problems on several that need to be worked out. Mike Lynch I enjoyed this, he took control and really showed he can be a "front man". The best of the night for me. He's the only who can give the girls a run for their money. quote:
Casey James Not good, vocals were weak. I agree he doesn't have the "grit" needed for that type of song, Agree. The judges were totally right that instead of a rocker he came off like a karaoke singer. quote:
Alex Lambert I am really liking this guy! Love the breathiness of his voice, and am I the only one who sees a resemblance to a young Paul McCartney? We'll have to part ways on him. For one thing, his last name keeps reminding me of Adam. Yes, I know that's not Alex's fault, but that's just the way it is. Also, I'm sorry, but I was very unimpressed with his two videos. Every other contestant found something positive to say, and what do we get from Alex? "Gee, I was glad when that other girl [who's not even around to defend herself] got eliminated" and "I get miserably sick before a performance." And this is supposed to make me want to vote for you? AI is, for better or worse, not just about talent, it's about image. And Alex definitely does not have a good image. McCartney's days as a Beatle are a little before my time, so I wouldn't know. quote:
Jermaine Sellers Hmmm, I liked him till he played the "I know God" card. I would like to hear him just SING though, without all the runs and "whoop ti do's" I think it will be Jermaine going home this week. To use Simons' word...sorry. Lord have mercy, I must have been out of the room (or maybe asleep with boredom ) when he made that comment last week. I just remember thinking that he gave a lovely testimony when he got eliminated this week. Can't remember enough to care about anybody else....these guys (except for Michael) had better step up their game, or the girls are going to run over them on the way to the final. Speaking of which, what did you guys think of Allison last week? I loved her last season, but I had mixed feelings seeing her again. She didn't seem as innocent anymore, which is one of the reasons why I liked her last year.

I think Simon hit it on the head when he told Mamasox that it's hers to lose. She's in a totally different class than anyone else...

I hope Chrystal is doing okay physically. The way she sat down for the critique leads me to suspect that she is not fully recovered from last week's diabetic incident. But, if she can perform that well sick, what can she do well?

Crystal nailed it...as usual. Didi and Lacey were (surprisingly) much better tonight. Katie and Paige, however...not so much. Lilly, oh, Lilly, Lilly, Lilly....what did you DO to that Patsy Cline classic?????? You were one of my favorites, but that was close to unforgivable. Predictions: Paige and Didi go home, and Lilly will get a scare thrown into her that will get her back on the right track. Lacey will squeak by (barely).

Although I wonder if Katelyn would be in the bottom three in place of Lilly. That is the worst possible song from Carole King to cover. Especially on a night as important as this. Not to be snarky, but it's Crystal. Not Chrystal. Not sure how that came about the board. She was terrific. Once I heard she was singing Tracy Chapman, I immediately knew which song and that it would be fantastic. Like the judges said, she knows who she is and knows what songs will sound great. I did start to worry about her when she was sitting down, she didn't look well at all. But you couldn't tell that when she was performing. Any other contestant would milk the sickness for votes, but she's giving 100% in spite of it and not complaining at all. I did like Didi. Mostly because I love Rhiannon. Not looking forward to the guys. I think this is the girls' year.

About 2 bars into the song I was groaning it was so bad. But, when it was over the judges were saying how great it was. They must have filters on their ears. If you watch it back you can see when Lilly is done and she's moving the mic stand the look on her face clearly shows she knew she bombed.

Not really impressed with last night. Crystal did well as usual and I do like Siobian. The three that did bad were Katie, Kaitlyn, and Paige, with Paige and Katy going home. It just seems like the performances are very lackluster this year. They might as well cancel AI and give it to Crystal.

I had to work a day shift on top of a night shift so I wasn't up to watching a 2 hour show last night, even with the DVR. In past shows, however, I have often wondered ... why, when they narrow according to type, do they have so many people trying to sing in that jazzy vibe trying to be Adele? Ugh. Didi and Lacey have often worked my last nerve singing that way. Mandisa keeps plugging Lacey and Paige ... is she seriously trying to be a Vote for the Worst kinda person? Tonight she'll be raving about whatever awful thing Todrick sings. Count on it ...

Ugh! Are the judges on CRACK? They loved the ones that were awful and ripped the ones who were good! Is it reverse psychology or WHAT?

The only one I liked tonight was Big Mike. He was AMAZING! Todrick did a lot better tonight. I think the Gospel arrangement helped him a lot. Honestly, pick any other two guys to go home and I probably wouldn't even miss them at all...they're all so.....forgettable.

I didn't watch all of it. Made it through about 20 or so minutes. I do like some of the guys...as people. Not as musicians. There is a certain frustration to that, because you want them to do well...then they just let you down. The girls are going to dominate them this year.

Simon actually did a good job last night..esp. when he refuted Kara and said they (the judges) need to stop confusing the contestant's. That was the best part of the night imo. Most of the guys took the easy way out with songs that presented no challenge to them at all. There was nothing that stood out..I Simon was also right about Todrick...he would be a nice fit on Broadway, and has said that is his dream.
