I ordered a Sony Reader. My bff has one as well and we're going to share an account when mine comes in.

It doesn't look like I'll have I, Alex Cross in time for the discussion. There are still 10 people ahead of me at the library, and even if each person keeps it one week, I won't have it for 10 weeks. Too late. I'm not buying the book because it costs more than I'll spend on a book. ( Plus I'm unfamiliar with the series and author and may not like it.) I'll put my name on the list for Breathless right now. Maybe I'll have it in time? Just a thought for next nomination time. Maybe we could nominate older books, or at least ones currently out in paperback? That way they'd be cheaper to buy, and easier to get at the library. Just a suggestion. Cheryl

It may be the same way for me Cheryl. Hey, have you put your name on the list for MP3 books, audio books, and other formats? I know getting the MP3 book (and I didn't need an MP3 player it comes with the book already loaded onto a player) first for The Glass Castle helped.

None of the libraries near me have it in audio or MP3 formats. I'm just out of luck, I guess. Cheryl

So your library doesn't do Inter-Library Loan? (ILL) I know some don't and some charge for it. Many do though, and even rare books can generally be found through WorldCat and ordered from across the country (hit and miss sometimes). Are we all ready to move on to I, Alex Cross in a week or so when March hits? How is everyone else doing getting it?

I was told there are long waiting lists for the book at other libraries nearby, also. Further away libraries can take a month, I was told by the librarian, to get to me. Cheryl

I hope Atlas Shrugged is better than Fountainhead. Haven't been able to finish it. Have AS in a paperback with small print.

Is anyone besides Abbreviated going to join in the I, Alex Cross book discussion? No pressure. Just curious. Cheryl

I think I'm going to skip this one, since my library has two copies of I, Alex Cross and I won't be able to get either one of them until April.

Next time we may want put new books (especially new installments of popular series) on the end of our line-up. Not because they aren't preferred to others but because its hard for many book club members to find the book in time. Given 4-6 months I think more of us could read it. What do you think? And I feel bad missing out this way. I hope things are going well for everyone else.

Tamara, I agree about the newer books - they are more in demand and harder to get. We are still learning as a group, so we can adjust as we see what works and what doesn't. Cheryl

Just got Book Thief at library. Missed Glass due to early baby. I don't do patterson anymore and couldn't get Koontz. Ready now though. I must learn to type with only one hand asap! Kris

Congratulations Kris!! And I'm sure you'll pick up the one-handed typing in no time.

I picked mine up from the library today. I requested it 2 weeks ago, so not too bad.

Tamara, Could you please start a thread for our Book Thief discussion that's coming up? I believe you were the person who nominated it (I could be wrong), so if you've read it before maybe you could write some thoughts about it? Cheryl
