Harvie, you really amaze me with the amount you cycle every day.

It's been raining here for the past 8 hours ... and it's quite soggy out there. And something about the rain seems to send my inside-only cats into "kitty weirdness" .... lol. I've got one cat out on the big Catio, meowing loudly at ... the rain? And another cat is running up and down the hallway, toy mousie in mouth, meowing, too. And a third cat is in the guest bathroom playing in the empty bathtub (I recognize those muffled thump-thump-thump sounds) and still another cat is banging the kitchen cupboards open and closed, open and closed, open and closed. Thank goodness for the three who are peacefully sleeping with me here in the family room: Miss Cricket and Daniel on the couch, and Emily snuggled against me on the arm of my recliner. Tomorrow (after the rain has stopped) I need to get out front and refill empty bird feeders. I noticed this afternoon that the hungry birdies had nearly emptied them, but wasn't quite motivated to brave the downpour to fill up those feeders ~ but I did promise the birdies that I would fill them up tomorrow. (Yes, I talked to the birds, doesn't everyone?) Anyway, that and biking are what's scheduled for me tomorrow (Thursday). Speaking of biking ... yes, I am trying to do more of that. I don't want to reduce the calories I'm eating from 1850 a day down to 1500 per day (which is what I would otherwise need to do to lose about 2 pounds a week), so I am seeking to create a reasonable "calorie deficit" via exercise. Which, in addition to assisting with my weight loss, also serves to (1) lower my blood sugars; (2) lower my cholesterol; (3) improve my cardiac health; (4) firm/tone/build muscles; and (5) increase endorphins ~ which I hope will help with my anxiety issues.

I am getting more motivated to walk the treadmill. I just can't bike, the seat is just too much for me and I get an infection.

I wish it would be windy here so it would dry up some of the sloppy, messy gravel roads. It's getting so bad with the snow melt that pretty soon we won't be able to drive one of the cars, the mud is just that deep that the car won't clear it.

Kath, I hear ya on the mud thing. It's melting around here and the dog came in with muddy paw yesterday. I love that it's getting warmer, but with that comes mud. Good job on getting motivated to walk. I'm kind of slugish lately. Harvie, good job to you too. I'm so thrilled about your weight loss. My goal is to loose what I have to loose in 2 years.

FunBetty: Yes, I bought the English Toffee Breakfast Tea at the grocery store. Well, my friend Stacey (who I have dinner with on Friday nights) has been at UC Davis for the past 2 days with her husband and a sick kitty cat -- and it looks like the cat will still be there tomorrow, so she won't be able to make dinner with me, since it's a 4-hour drive from Fresno (where we live.) Poor kitty (his name is Gus) ... he's got some sort of neurological problems and his back legs don't seem to be working properly anymore -- and he's just over one year old. The local vet was at a loss to know what to do, so referred Gus up there to a vet neurologist. We're all heartbroken, since I went with Stacey to pick out this kitten at the no-kill shelter last April after her teenaged cat died.... and now he can barely get around (and can't climb on the couch or the bed). But he's still a cuddlebug and still purrs like a motorboat. Anyway, I'm not going to ask what these tests are costing (not to mention 3 days off work for both of them -- they are both Deputy District Attorneys) and two nights at a hotel. I biked 13 miles today, and I'm tired tired tired. Now I'm happily flopped in my recliner, planning to be a couch potato for the rest of the afternoon/evening. Dinner tonight will be salmon and Wheat Thins, with a nice romaine/tomato salad, cheese toast, and puffed Kamut cereal. Hmmm... Wheat Thins don't sound very exciting as a side starch, but they are already counted out in little baggies, and it just doesn't get simpler than that ~ which is pretty much what I'm up for tonight, LOL! I saw a black-and-white pet bunny hopping around someone's front lawn while biking today. I stopped and Mr. Bunny scooted under the fence into their backyard.

Aww, poor Gus. Cute about the rabbit. It wasn't missing from 'Alice In Wonderland' or 'Watership Down' was it?
